The Hampton Court Palace Flower Show is an annual event which regularly takes place in the first week of July in south west London. This years show will take place between the 3rd and 8th of July. It is run by the Royal Horticultural Society. It is the second biggest flower show in the United Kingdom after the Chelsea Flower Show.
The 2012 show has a theme of community gardening, showing how communities can be brought together through gardening and how gardening can be done at a low cost.
Although the main theme is about community there are many different styled themes for individual gardens including The Italian Job garden. Many of the conceptual gardens this year dictate the impact that humans have on this planet.
There is also a section at the show dedicated to international gardens, with gardeners and designers travelling from all over the world to be part of this prestigious event. As well as coming to the event to be apart of something special they also come to the event to win selected awards in their gardens categories and to enhance their own reputations within the gardening world.
The flowers are delicately designed to ensure they are looking their best during the show and are well cared for when on display.
After the show finishes on the 8th of July the designers can either decide to keep the garden for personal use or to display at other shows or they can decide to sell their garden to a buyer if anyone is interested in making the designer an offer for the said garden.
The Hampton Court Palace Show attracts many guests every year including well renowned garden expert Alan Titchmarsh.
The first show in 1990 was attended by over 300,000 people and each year the number of visitors has risen. The reason for this is because the flower show is good value for money with ticket prices starting at £14.50 each for adults (with every adult ticket two children under the age of 16 get in free) also the relaxing and pleasant atmosphere at the show is what appeals to most of the guests. Tickets for the 2012 show are still on sale.0
